I feel the same way yo...I love Eastlake furniture. I feel the same way you do. Yes, I am the proud owner of a small walnut Eastlake coffee table, purchased at a garage sale for a small price. It still had remnants of white paint in the grain. I scrubbed it out, refininshed it and 20 years later I still have it. I would love to have it at its original height, it would fit beautifully in front of my long cottage window, with a plant, a lamp, and family photos. And yes, it would be better to paint it than cut the base off. I spent 20 years refinishing antique furniture, removing layers of white paint, to expose beautiful wood. I did a lot of work for two elderly sisters that had an antique shop. I asked one of them why everything was painted white, and her comment was "during the depression, no one could afford new furniture, so they painted everything white to make it look new and fresh. That has stuck with me for over 3 decades, and I completely understand. Adding paint of any color is easier to remove than cutting down the height of a table.
Debrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06520012342061393578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2199625989206024467.post-27593277146425089412015-08-01T05:17:50.857-07:002015-08-01T05:17:50.857-07:00OH I had the library table once mine had the legs ...OH I had the library table once mine had the legs sawed off to make it a coffee tale I used it for years then it went in a yard sale for $12.00 !!!!!!!!!!

I loved all the marble top tables and wanted them all back in my victorian collecting daysCurtains in My Treehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04739180504953135365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2199625989206024467.post-69685395447624703512015-07-31T13:08:40.769-07:002015-07-31T13:08:40.769-07:00OK I am confessing.
