Primitive oil on canvas of a fisherman

I'm thinking that someone in the 1850's saw a print -  such as those by Currier or Kellogg  - and tried their hand at painting a copy.

It's primitive and the corners need fixed but you can see the grain painting on the frame. A theme such as fishing is always a winner.  It measures 30" by 22" so it's large enough to make a good showing.
