Life in Old South Central Alabama

My photo
South of Birmingham, Alabama, United States
I am an antique trader in central Alabama....I love old houses... My log home was built in 1817 by my ancestors Benjamin and Hannah Harless Wilson .............. Outside the house are herb gardens and lots of pass-along plants................ No one in Alabama is in a hurry about anything......... Visitors think that the garden needs weeding and the furniture needs polishing....I am a direct descendant of Joseph Towne, whose two sisters Rebecca Towne Nurse and Mary Towne Easty were hanged in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692 as witches. I am also a direct descendant of Pocahontas and husband John Rolfe.

Old Paris Vases have arrived from auction

My Old Paris vases have arrived from auction.   They are 19 inches tall and weigh 25 pounds, so I was anxious to say the least to have them arrive safely.  I can't give enough praise to the auction company and to Niketa at the UPS store in Austin for making sure they got to me in perfect condition!

Here is the description from the catalog at Austin Auction Gallery in Texas:

"(pair) Old Paris porcelain parcel gilt hand-painted vases, having rams head handles and floral swags framing figural compositions of Rococo courtship, pale blue side verso, overall wear to gilt, repair at one base, 19"h, 10.5"w, 25lbs "

The rams' heads have lost some of their gold from years of being dusted.  Exactly as they should be.

Happy young lovers...

You get the best things from your secret auction houses.
I still like the oil paintings the best and hope to have one someday

  2. They are beautiful! You are now getting into Old Paris? If I remember right you were more into pottery in the past. They will look great in your house!
