Samurai by Suzuki Shin'ichi ( 1835-1919 )

This is an albumen silver print, about 8 x 10, that I have in a period 1870's gesso frame.

I sold a group of 70 other photographs from this collection, all by the Japanese photographer Suzuki Shin'ichi ( 1835-1919), but just could not part with this one of the young samurai.

The Met Museum in New York also has an original in its collection of the same photograph.

    You have the most interesting items I have ever seen. I'm sure these are worth a lot.
    Wonder if the frame is a dark gesso frame
